Fourth of July in Miami Beach

Have you made any plans for Independence Day yet?  The festivities in Miami Beach get bigger, better, and more spectacular every year. Visitors to the barrier island can enjoy the spirited nightlife, the sunny sands, and much more. This year, several places are offering 4th of July discounts to provide even more incentive to celebrate the country’s day of independence on the beach.

Assuming you’re a Florida resident, you can enjoy some awesome savings if you’re planning on a beach “staycation”. The Eden Roc hotel in South Beach is discounting its room rates by 25% so you can enjoy the fireworks from your own sumptuous suite. If you’re looking to relax and revitalize, the W South Beach is providing spa treatments at 20% off of the regular price.

As for events, check out the Miami Beach Fire on the Fourth Festival taking place all day from 9am to 9pm at North Shore Bandshell Park. The event will provide a variety of activities for the whole family including complimentary morning yoga, live music, fireworks, food trucks, and much more. Make sure to arrive early and bring a blanket so you can find a nice spot to check out the fireworks.

Sunday Brunch in Miami Beach

Back in November 2015, the Nobu Restaurant & Bar Lounge opened at Eden Roc on Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive. Contrary to Miami’s typical definition of raucous brunch events with booze aplenty, Nobu has quickly earned a reputation for its quiet ambiance.

Visiting Nobu Restaurant & Bar Lounge, you won’t find a DJ nor will there be a pool party going on, the atmosphere remains perennially relaxed despite the restaurant’s massive space encompassing over 300 seats, wood tables, and elegant chandeliers. At Nobu it’s all about the intimacy and coziness, particularly on Sunday afternoons.

Brunch is one of Nobu’s newest features, debuting last month. It’s already attracting a diverse array of diners consisting of Eden Roc hotel guests, local Miami Beach residents, and those seeking to conduct business meetings in the restaurant’s relaxed setting. The demographic is a colorful mixture of young and older guests, a stark contrast to some of the other South Beach brunch hotspots.

Prices for Nobu’s brunch range from $95 to $300 but the base price does include your choice of an entree. A sushi and sashimi bar and Nobu’s "yamucha carts” full of various food items are among the options available to guests.

The Bad Boy Records Family Reunites in Miami

Back in the 1990s, Bad Boy Records was among the most successful record labels in the music industry, releasing albums like the Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die as well as releasing music by artists like singer-songwriter Faith Evans, R&B girl group Total, and albums by its founder Sean “Diddy” Combs, then known as “Puff Daddy”. The label still exists but now operates as a subdivision of Sony Music Entertainment and has downsized considerably from its 90s heyday.

If you were a fan of Bad Boy Records then, you’ll be pleased to know that Diddy is currently reuniting sone of the label’s most popular acts for a concert to be held at the American Airlines Arena on September 10, appropriately called the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour. Aforementioned Faith Evans and a reunited Total will be among the performers alongside other popular acts. Mase, Lil Kim, 112, and French Montana are all scheduled to make appearances at the star studded event. Chances are Diddy himself will also be performing some of his classic hits like “I’ll Be Missing You” with Faith Evans and “It’s All About the Benjamins” with the Lox.

Tickets for the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour currently range in price from $35 to $146, plus fees.

Free Activities to Enjoy in Miami Beach

One of the best activities to enjoy life as a resident of Miami Beach is just sitting back with a glass of your favorite wine or a bottle of beer and enjoying the sunny and breezy ambiance courtesy of the beaches and the Atlantic Ocean. Then again, if you’re looking for other activities to enjoy, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of activities to enjoy that require no additional cost aside from the gas it takes to get there.

The Venetian Causeway has been back in action for some time now and it remains arguably South Florida’s best mainland to beach pathway that’s also pedestrian friendly. Bike, walk, or run and admire the gorgeous scenery and the beautiful homes.

If you’d prefer an evening activity when the weather is bit cooler, drum circles are frequently held by the beach at Northeast 79th Street and Collins Avenue and it includes music, dancing and of course plenty of drums with the full moon as the beautiful backdrop.

Fans of performance art might want to head over to the Adrienne Arsht Center which hosts a behind the scenes tour every Monday and Saturday afternoon that also includes history lessons. On the other hand if you’re a nature lover the Miami Beach Botanical Garden always has lush flowers and plants and impeccable landscaping to appreciate and admire.

Memorial Day Weekend in Miami Beach

The Memorial Day festivities are gearing up to be even bigger and better in Miami Beach. To deal with the anticipated profusion of people expected to be celebrating on the beach, the city is creating a traffic loop along Washington Avenue, Fifth Street, and Collins Avenue which should keep things running smoothly, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on visiting.

But enough about traffic, let’s see what you can do to have some fun on the barrier island this weekend!

Over at the Faena Theater on Collins Avenue, singer-songwriter and producer Miguel will be performing this Friday at 11 pm. Miguel made his musical debut with his 2010 album All I Want Is You which became a sleeper hit and has released two additional albums since then, Wildheart being his most recent. Tickets for the Miguel concert range between $25 to $183.

Former Miami Beach resident Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz will also be performing on Friday at 11 pm at Story on Collins Avenue. Tickets cost $30 plus additional fees. Rappers Fabolous and Rick Ross are also scheduled to make appearances at Story.

On Saturday, head over to the North Miami Beach area and participate in the Rubber Duckie Pool Partyat Duffy’s Sports Grill. The 21 and over event will feature artists Oscar G, Donnie Lowe, and plenty more. Tickets for the party cost $13.
